Our Primary Outreach Programme

Research suggests that the transition from KS2 to KS3 is often a period when pupils experience a significant dip in their mathematical engagement and as such their confidence in their ability.

To combat this, Surrey Maths School is invested in working with primary schools and local partners to deliver activities to engage and enthuse students at the start of their mathematical journey.

If you'd like to get in touch about working with us, please email outreach@surreymathsschool.co.uk. We'd love to hear from you!

Where Is The Moon?

How far away do you think the moon is from the Earth? Can we represent this in the classroom?

In partnership with The Royal Institution, Surrey Maths School delivers sessions to students from several local primary schools. Tapping into student’s natural curiosity, students take part in hands-on activities to develop their Maths and Physics skills with the aim of creating a scale model of the earth-moon system.

Shape The Future

What do the buildings at a university have in common? How are they different? Why aren’t many buildings circular?

This six week programme aims to support students in learning more about the geometry of the buildings around them and begin to consider university as an accessible and realistic future to aspire to. In collaboration with the University of Surrey, students have the opportunity to explore a university campus and develop the skills needed to create their very own campus.
