Parent & Carer Testimonials

Our whole SuMS community is important to us; our students, our staff, our governors, our partners, and of course, our students' parents and carers.

We listen carefully to feedback and value any insights that are shared with us; we celebrate areas where people tell us that we are achieving the high standards that we set for ourselves, and we work to improve areas where we hear that we could do better.

We'd like to share with you just a small selection of the comments that have kindly been shared with us about SuMS so far by our current parents and carers. If you'd like to share a comment with us, please get in touch by emailing us

"Our son has been at SuMS for 9 months now and is part of the second cohort of students. We are absolutely delighted with the school and the positive impact it is having on our son. He gained a place at SuMS and we were so thrilled as we thought the STEM-focused environment at SuMS would suit him. We were not wrong. When we asked our son what he liked the most about school he said the teachers are excellent and all the students want to learn.  About the school environment he said that the school was “caring and kind”. Our son is challenged and stretched, which is exactly what he needs. He enjoys school and the interactions he has with the other young people in his classes. All of the staff have been professional, engaging, helpful and supportive. Communications from the school are excellent. We are so thrilled to see our son thriving in this environment. SuMS is an amazing place."

"It's such a wonderful, warm and nurturing environment for our son.  He moved from a school nearby that he's attended for 4 years to a new school and a new longer commute. SuMS was exceptional in sharing information, connecting, connecting parents and new students and welcoming our son. He never felt lonely or left out, despite being a foreigner, coming from far away in southwest London and not knowing anyone beforehand. I also would add that we've been dealing with our son's mental health struggles and SuMS has been exceptional in being supportive and caring, working with us and with him to make sure he knows his options, his support and to help him achieve the best he can. All in all, an amazing school, amazing teachers, amazing culture and environment and we couldn't be happier."

"What I love about SuMS is that they are cheerleaders for the individual. This is not a school where learning needs are assessed at scheduled meetings, analysed using tick boxes and addressed with a standard toolkit. The staff at SuMS see the student and work outward from there. They’re not afraid to try brand new things, and the approach is both agile and continuous. As students change or learn more about themselves, the response doesn’t wait until the next checkpoint, and if things don’t work, they get changed - fast. This is a wonderful environment for the neurodiverse, but the same principles are applied to everyone, and it works beautifully."

"If you look on the SuMS website, you will read about their five values. Every school trumpets their values, but SuMS is the first school where I've felt they are demonstrated. This is not because they are put on posters or talked about in assembly, but because they are embodied in the everyday actions of staff and pupils. The teaching style is a great example. Pupils work in small groups and, essentially, teach each other - collaborating in learning."
